Roadshow Valuations
Hobson & Schoon and their representatives hold regular Antiques Discovery Days where we can appraise your antiques, pictures and collectibles free of charge for those considering sale. We often hold our events in well- known prestigious hotels in towns and cities – where you can park easily and then sit in comfort while we discuss the age, origin and value of your cherished antiques and collectors items. If you can bring it in – we will value it! If you have large or very heavy items that you cannot bring along personally then please bring good photos instead. We can give you an approximate estimate of their worth – and if necessary we will visit you in your home or premises later the same day (or by appointment) free of charge.
From time to time we will be accompanied by a guest specialist valuer, some known internationally for their expertise. Specialists in books, stamps, jewellery, watches and clocks, silver and Asian art are already booked. For our Valuation Discovery Days, sometimes done in conjunction with and for the benefit of local charities please keep an eye on our website as well as on local press, radio and television.
Lectures and Guest Speaking
Adam is a well known speaker on a number of subjects including – The Origins of Blue and White porcelain, The History of Tea, and The Genius of Rene Lalique – Jewellery and Glass designer. Adam also shares some of his life adventures including some little known secrets and discoveries made over the years in his work with the BBC, including Going For a Song and the Antiques Roadshow. Adam also reveals some extraordinary moments during his own long career as an international roving valuer. Adam will bring some unusual things with him to discuss – and indeed there may be some audience participation where you are invited to guess what things are and their value. Sometimes you are invited to bring along an interesting antique or treasured possession of your own so Adam can include it as part of his talk.
Charity Auctions
Charity is something close to all of our hearts at Hobson & Schoon – so we try to ensure we give back wherever we can. We frequently host Charitable Auctions, using our particular skillset, to raise money for those in need.
We are also open to providing Charitable contributions in other formats, whether we provide free valuations, brokering services or even guest speaking in the name of charity. Please fee free to get involved in our, or bring us into your proposed events.
