What are my items worth?
We specialise in providing Independent Expert Valuation services for fine art, antiques, and collectibles. If, for insurance purposes, we can create detailed documents describing your most valued items – these will be grouped into the different risk categories such as jewellery, silver, ceramics, furniture, and paintings. Our experience over the last 50 years working for private clients, estates, universities, councils and museums means we understand precisely what insurance companies require to provide cover for a variety of art works.
Our Experience includes everything from Multimillion pound, large scale marble sculptures by Barbara Hepworth, to small scale works of art, such as art deco bronze figurines worth in the hundreds. With leading Spcialiststs in each field, we are equipped to help.
We welcome the opportunity of valuing your collection – and will quote competitive fees to do so. Once instructed we will work to strict a time-scale and budget.

How can I turn a Valuation into a successful sale?
Regardless of the item(s), we can advise and assist in putting them before motivated buyers. For sale purposes we can value a single item or an entire collection, giving you a realistic expectation of what you should receive through sale. We understand and follow closely the international auction scene and retail art market. Thus we can accurately advise where in Europe, or further afield, your collection may sell best. Hobson & Schoon arrange any necessary cross-border/export paperwork, secure transport and insurance to smoothly facilitate this.
In the past we have sent items for sale on behalf of clients to London (Old Master paintings), Paris (tribal art and Asian art ), New York (folk art and “Americana”), and Hong Kong (Asian art). Our contacts and standing allow us to negotiate favourable auction commission rates on your behalf – but most importantly maximise the potential of your items.
We have experienced representatives across the UK and Europe to assist with each part of the process.
